Vegas Studio – Captures only one frame?
This is my first post. This formum may be for only Vegas 7.0, but I have a Vegas Studio question and hopefully someone will be willing to help me. I can only get VMS to capture audio and video for 1 frame, then it stops. My camera continues in the play mode, plus I can still control my camera through the vegas interface, it just won’t continue to capture. The tape plays, but no video or audio comes through Vegas Studio
My camera is a Sony Handycam – Model DCR-TRV520. I recorded the video in DV mode so it should be transferring with my DV cable. I have VMS software set to NTSC.
Here’s what’s crazy. It worked great when I first installed. Then my computer crashed. I reinstalled Windows XP Pro plus VMS, and now I can’t get VMS to capture.
I have a AMD 2600+ with 1 gig
ATI Radeon 8500 AGP x8 Graphics cardRemember, it worked before.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

this one might be a crazy idea, but did you reinstall the same version drivers as it was before?
Was autoupdate enabled before? – And now?

In the capture utility, it is possible to set the length of capture. Potentially, you’ve set this to capture only one frame in length.
Open your Capture utility, view Preferences, and see if you have anything specified in the Capture Length.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Thanks to Laszio and DSE/Spot for great suggestions. After following your instructions and seeing that everthing was as you suggested I started wondering if my capture card had gone bad.
I replaced it and everything FINALLY WORKS GREAT !! I would have never thought the capture card had gone bad, it’s only a few months old! That’s why I couldn’t understand what was going on with my computer because I had done some great editing up to the other day when nothing would capture. I had assumed something was going querky with VMS. Not so, I stilll can’t believe I did all that troubleshooting and it was just a bad capture card. Oh well, live and learn.
Amazing – Now back to the fun of working with Vegas!
By the way DSE/Spot I purchased your Vegas Movie Studio DVD at the end of last year and that has been the best investment I’ve ever made in instructional videos! You get so much BANG for the BUCK! That DVD was and is DYNAMITE-E-E-E!!! I created my son’s wedding video from tips on the DVD and tutoral tips on your web page. EVERYONE loved the wedding video. All from Vegas Studio = a powerful little program and rock solid.
