Vegas rendering gone wrong.
Hi all,
I’m experiencing a problem with sony vegas, i’ll try to explain as good as possible, bare with me though since English is not my first language.
I’m trying to make a movie, using a file taken from a program called vdub. The movie i’m making goes as follows: First i get alot of .tga screenshots, then i put them in vdub and render them using xvid codec to an .avi file.
Then when i put this .avi file in sony vegas to edit, i get a black screen when rendering the movie. The sound does play, just the movie itself doesnt show.
Can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong?
ps. the original vdub movie is 60 fps don’t know if that will help

Vegas can’t edit Xvid at all and doesn’t do well with DivX either. It’s best to stay away from both of those formats for editing.
Actually, there is no need to use VDub at all (unless you are using it to do other signal processing). If the images are numbered in sequential order (e.g., image001.tga, image002.tga, image003.tga, etc.) just open them in Vegas as an image sequence and Vegas will treat them like video.
Use File | Import | Media… Select the first image and check the box at the bottom of the windows that says [X] Open still image sequence. Vegas will create an event that you can edit like a movie.

Hello again,
Just as i thought the problem was fixed i faced another one. As you can see on the screenshot i enclosed below i can’t pick open still image sequence. What am i doing wrong?

They say a picture is worth a thousand words…
You need to get rid of the parenthesis in the file names. The files must end with just a number to be recognized as a sequence (e.g., “shot0002 01.tga”, “shot0002 02.tga”, “shot0002 03.tga”, etc. ). Yours end with ‘).tga’
Use any batch rename program to fix this. I can highly recommend Bulk Rename Utility. I use it all the time.
