Basically, every time I render a video (and it’s not just one video, it’s EVERY one), it takes the expected amount of time, with no error messages, however, when I play the new file back, the visual (not the audio) has been slowed down by about half.

I have tried so many different options, including changing my render settings, video player, and I’ve even upgraded from Sony Vegas Pro 8.0 to 10; nothing has worked, and it’s starting to really annoy me, as I am unable to render anything recently without having this problem arise.

If anyone has a solution to this problem, please let me know, as not only do I have this problem, but my friend, too, so I’d like to help her out as well.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give. 🙂

What is the source of the video and what are your render-to parameters? Also, **where** are you seeing this result? In the preview screen, in the encoded DVD, on the theater screen?

…I have no idea what those things are. I’m pretty new to using this software; would you mind explaining? Sorry! D:

However, I can understand that last bit; I’m seeing it in the final, encoded file. It’s fine on the preview screen.

What is the source? Is it a camera (which one), is it a tape from a friend? Is it a screen capture?

Where are you watching the final encoded file? PC, DVD Player, iPad?

Ah, that makes more sense. Thank you. 🙂

It is clips from a TV show I downloaded a little while ago, and I am watching it on my PC.

    How did you download it?
When you say that it’s presenting at half-speed, is it really half speed where the video finishes while the audio is only half-complete, or does the video skip every other frame?

I downloaded it from a direct-download website which I have used for over a year now, without any complications at all with any of the files. (the files in the video I’m trying to render have been used before too, again, without any problems.)

Well. It is the same length as it is in the timeline on Vegas, and the audio is the correct length. The video is slowed down for about 95% of the time, and for the small amount of time remaining, the rest of the video is sped up. I really don’t know how to describe it; do you get what I mean, or would you like an example?

If it’s short enough, post an example….

Most if not all downloaded TV shows and movies are in Divx or Xvid which Vegas does not support.

“Most if not all downloaded TV shows and movies are in Divx or Xvid which Vegas does not support.”

True, but the OP said the downloads have been used before. I “assume” in Vegas.

The common problem with Divx it that it will work for a while to lull you into a sense of complacency then BAM a problem coming from seemingly nowhere. If Vegas says it ‘s not supported, believe them.
