    Last week I was able to import .mov files from my camcorder without any issues into Vegas. Then suddenly I got this error:

    The Sony QuickTime plug-in was not able to initialize the QuickTime components on your system. It appears that QuickTime for Windows is not properly installed.
    QuickTime files cannot be read or written without a full installation of QuickTime version 7.1.6 or greater components, including the authoring components.

    I already tried uninstalling QT and reinstalling it, but it didn’t solve the problem.
    I think the error lies in my system environment variables.

    Last week I had to install a compiler for my Comp Sci class, and I accidentally cleared the Path Variable in my environment variables. Does Vegas have any path variables I need to add to this?

    Maybe if someone with a proper installation could paste their path variable here, it could help? (Start > Ctrl Panel > System > Advanced > Env Variables > Scroll down to PATH > Click edit > Copy+Paste the long string in the second box?)

    ^ Although I could be wrong and that might not be the source of the problem.
    Thanks again! Please help, I have a project with plenty of mov clips which all aren’t appearing now because of this error.

    Much obliged,
    Gabe

    Certain versions of QT are not compatible with Vegas, you can search this forum for posts.

    If you cleared the PATH environment variable, I would be surprised if much worked at all.

    Here’s my PATH
    PATH=C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedWindows Live;C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesMicrosoft SharedWindows Live;C:Windowssystem32;C:Windows;C:WindowsSystem32Wbem;C:WindowsSystem32WindowsPowerShellv1.0;C:Program Files (x86)ATI TechnologiesATI.ACECore-Static;C:Program Files (x86)QuickTimeQTSystem;C:Program Files (x86)X-RiteDevicesServices;C:Program Files (x86)X-RiteDevicesLib;C:Program Files (x86)Windows LiveShared;C:Program Files (x86)CineFormTools;C:Program Files (x86)GoProTools

    There’s folder specific to QT. (C:Program Files (x86)QuickTimeQTSystem)

    Do you need help adding that to your path?
