Vegas Pro Upgrade
Hi all !
This is not a question but more of a buyer beware thing.
Now, I’ve been using Vegas since V 3 when it was still Soundforge. Over the years, I have regularly upgraded versions via Sony‘s website and recently to V16 via Magix‘s online store. I have never come across this before.
Most, if not all of you have had that pop-up from Magix upon opening Vegas that tells you that an upgrade or special offer is available. I chose to do just that, as I did before.
The big difference this time is that since I am located in Canada (as I have always been) the total amount was in dollars, as it was previously but this time, when I got my credit card bill, Magix had applied the US exchange rate. Now, I can ear you say : ”Didn’t you look at the final numbers on the invoice page?” Yup. I did, as I usually do, and nothing looked out of place. Since now like most of you, I buy stuff from around the world, I tend to look out for that.
There are 20 or so countries that use the name dollar for their currency ( not counting the one’s that use the US dollar).
My advice to you is to e-mail Magix before purchasing in order to confirm the price in your currency because there is no mention on the purchasing site (as of today) regarding which currency is being used. It use to be there, but not anymore. I don’t know about the non dollar currencies but don’t take any chances.
I learned the hard way. Magix has been un-sympathetic.
Cheers !
