I am new to Vegas Pro, and I have been doing some self studying with videos online. I have attached a photo to this email. I am trying to create a text with a gradient background box like the one in the video. Does anyone have any good videos or tutorials that would help me with this. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Delaney

p.s. If the photo does not show up, what I am trying to do is while a video is playing, on the lower part of the screen, Ill have a fly in box appear that will have text in it, it might be the name of the person on the video, or something. But I want the box to me a rectangular box, gradient from black to clear, with text in it.

Text with a gradient background can be done using the ProType Titler,
that is present in the Media Generators tab. When opened it might seem
a bit complicated since you are new, Just spend some time and fiddle
    around until you get it.

    You might try:
    Track 1. Parent track
Track 2. Text Media track (use Sony Text media)
Track 3. Color Gradient track (use Sony Color Gradient media)

Make tracks 2 and 3 a child of 1 and use parent Track Motion (probably w/ keyframes) to animate 2 and 3 into position as desired.

If you want a solid background with the gradient inside the lettering of the text, try:
    Track 1. Parent track
Track 2. Parent Color Gradient track (use Sony Color Gradient media)
Track 3. Text Media track (use Sony Text media)
    Track 4. Solid Color track

Make 2 a parent of 3. Set 2’s Compositing mode to Multiply. Make text color in 3 white (you are multiplying white text into the color gradient). Again, make 2, 3, and 4 children of 1 and use Track Motion on 1 to move them as a group. I.e.:

    1. parent track, track motion
    — 2. color gradient, multiply mask
    —- 3. sony text, white
    — 4. solid color
