Vegas Pro Production Assistant 2
Posted by Jason Warfe on October 11, 2010 at 3:05 pmIs it pretty much the same thing as the first Production Assistant? I purchased Production Assistant 1 and enjoyed it. Production Assistant 2 says it has a lower third generator. Is it the same lower thirds or brand new ones? Thanks in advance for the info.

Define “pretty much the same”?
Production Assistant 2.0 has a new Template Creator and Media Mapper that make creating templates and assigning media to templates a whole lot easier and more robust.
It has 13 new processes that can be applied:
- Rendering as a process
- Set Project Properties
- Add any Video FX or chain of FX’s
- Add any Audio FX or chain of FX’s
- Add Video Bumpers
- Load / Save Markers
- Change Video Media Properties
- Change Audio Event Properties
- Adjust Undersample Rate
- Set Resample mode
- Trim Clip
- Audio Overlay
- Add Timecode
Production Assistant 2.0 also has automated media card support so you can place a media card from your camera into your computer and it will sense it and automatically launch, copy the media to your hard drive, launch a Vegas project template, and run automated processes on the project. This is very valuable for run-n-gun and same day events. And there have been enhancements made to the Lower Thirds tool.
Other than that… yea, it’s “pretty much the same”.

The Lower Thirds tool in Production Assistant 2.0 allows you to specify your own Lower Thirds. You can customize and save existing Lower Thirds as a new Lower Third. You can also specify your own “user build” Lower Thirds to show up in the Lower Thirds tool. It also includes automated Text Event Generation. You have the option to automatically add Text/ProType event above the Lower Third on timeline. This saves time in having to do this manually after the Lower Third is placed.

The initial set is the same but there are still 6 more sets of Lower Thirds that you can purchase from VASST.
