Recently, I’ve been using Shadowplay’s Instant Replay feature to record videos for a channel of mine. When I drag the videos into Vegas, they’re all fine. But during editing (cutting and moving clips, that’s it, the audio starts to corrupt randomly.

Video of corruption (SOUND WARNING): https://twitter.com/IndieBin/status/1104069418362064896

It’s sudden, random and makes it through the render. The peaks seem to appear and disappear while scrolling in and it. Even when scrolled out and not visible, the audible corruption is still there.

This ONLY happens with Instant Replay footage. What Instant Replay does is record video, game audio in stereo and my microphone in mono (which I convert to a single channel). This corruption happens before any audio conversion and gets worse over time.

    What could be causing this?

    Cheers !

Media Info in a paste bin: https://pastebin.com/4xs3quwt

Since there are two audio channels, Vegas creates two .sfk files, which it doesn’t do with other footage. And I have tried deleting all sfk files and relaunching Vegas. Doesn’t help!

    Hi Alex

First off, by what I can see in your MediaInfo file, you’re not using ShadowPlay but Fraps . Shadowplay compresses the file as it records, not Fraps hence the large file size.

Now to your audio problem. Your recorded audio is AAC. Vegas doesn’t like AAC. I recommend that you run your file thru Handbrake and make sure that the audio portion is of a type recognized by Vegas. I assume that you will be upoading your file to Youtube. If so, you won’t need to have a non-compressed file as Youtube compresses everything.

Also, make sure that when you run it thru Handbrake, you change the video frame rate to constant, that’s another thing that Vegas doesn’t like.

    Cheers !

I’m 100% using ShadowPlay. I’ve used FRAPS before, but I don’t have it installed on this computer. I’m using Shadowplay, but the Instant Replay mode.

With Handbrake, can I convert BOTH audio channels? Since there are two separate channels (my voice and game audio), does it have the facility to convert both?

    Hi Alex

    Your Mediafile said this: G:\Fraps\RECORDINGS\Desktop\Desktop 2019.03.30 – 18.57.29.27.DVR.mp4

So I assumed that’s what you used. Can you upload a 5 second clip of that file ?

    Cheers !
