I did not comment on this thread because I have never used FCP but there is a new thread on Sony forums that you really should read: Okay Sony, I learned my lesson….

In it the author talks of how he tried to use FCP for an entire year and finally couldn’t take it anymore and came back to Vegas. He says:

Try as I might, and God knows I’ve tried, I just can’t come to like FCP. I hate it. You have to go outside the program do do many things you can do from the timeline in Vegas, and you have to render everything to see how it’s going to look. I found myself continually going back to Sony Vegas on the Windows side of the Mac in order to work efficiently and quickly.

I guess that just about sums it up. If you want to work like you were back in the 1960’s with a separate tool for every step of the process and wait for renders to complete to check your work then get FCP. If you want a modern all-in-one tool that gets the job done quickly and efficiently, then choose Vegas Pro. (of course… I’m not too biased now am I?) 😀
