Vegas Pro 9 vs Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11
Hi all,
Having used Vegas Pro 9 for a while on a friends workstation I’ve got used to the interface and tools for editing and creating HD video.
I’d like to purchase myself Vegas Pro but the cost is prohibitive so I was looking at the latest Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11.
Can anyone tell me what the major differences are with this much cheaper option please?
I tend to use the platform for home video/weddings/birthdays in HD, so about 3 video streams, couple of audio streams etc.

For me, scripting is the biggest difference between Pro and any of the Movie Studio versions.
That means that very useful programs such as Excalibur, Ultimate S, etc. won’t run on Movie Studio because it lacks this capability.
There are also several useful free scripts (I use a lot of them all the time) won;t run either.
If scripting isn’t an issue for you, then make the jump.
Movie Studio now supports 10 tracks each of audio and video (used to only be 4) so they have come a long way with it.
Download the trial (it’s good for a month), play with it and see if it meets your needs. -

I’ve never got into the scripting side, so I wouldn’t miss it. I’ll grab the demo and use it, I’ve a couple of projects that need to get done so that will show up any major issues.
