  • Vegas Pro 9 on Bootcamp – Audio Sync Problems

I’m running Windows XP Pro via Bootcamp on a Macbook Pro with the following specs:

    4GB DDR3
    3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo
    500GB 7200rpm
nVidia 9400M/9600GT (only 9600GT available in Windows)
    17″ matte

I recently upgraded to Vegas Pro 9. While I’m playing the timeline (which contains what I assume are MPEG clips, being from a JVC hard drive camcorder), the audio is at first in sync but then gradually goes out of sync. I’ve tried playing with buffer settings, installed ASIO4All, and I can’t get anything to fix this problem. Even selectively prerendering or building a RAM preview fails to yield a resolution.

Any ideas on how to fix this? The audio is back in sync if I pause, wait a couple seconds, and hit play again. But then the problem starts again after around 10 seconds of playback.

(What’s incredibly annoying is that I never had this problem when running Vegas Pro 8 on a 1.8 GHz single-core Athlon 64 with 512 MB ram–and that was even with HDV clips.)

have same set up as you (have ati card tho, but mac/bootcamp/vegas9), and also getting crazy problems somewhat like this. its not source codec dependent. i find if clips are speed changed, vegas cannot play them back correctly…video audio sync goes way out.

sorry, cant offer any help, wrestling with it!

Thanks for the reply, the fact that someone else is experiencing the same thing means that there might be a chance for some solution.

FWIW, I’ve used Final Cut Express on this same laptop but of course in OS X and not had a single issue. I’m trying to make the complete switch from Windows to Mac. Vegas was one of the few things keeping me on Windows, and I’m going to have trouble letting go of it.

I really need to know if anyone’s got some ideas on how to fix this, as I’m in the middle of a project with a fast-approaching deadline and am not quite ready to make the complete switch to FCE, at least not until I’m on to the next project.

I am having the same problem but with a legitimate ASIO setup. Have you found a solution??
