Hi, I can’t find a conclusive answer to this.

How do we know if Vegas is using all cores? And, how do we set it to do so?

    Thanks a lot,

    Paul.

It does by default and there is nothing you need to set. When it needs them it will use them and when it doesn’t it won’t.

    Thanks for clarifying that!

I’d probably say that it uses them when it can rather than when it needs to.

Yes, “when it can” is more accurate since you need to have a task that can be distributed across multiple threads or processes in order to take advantage of multiple cores. Not all tasks can be.

JR is right unless you have over 4 cores. If you do, you can change this by clicking on Tools/ and shift clicking Preferences. Once there, you will see a new tab called Internal. Be careful that you do not mess anything up while in there poking around.

By the way, Vegas will only utilize up to 4 cores in a beneficial way. Anything over 4 will actually prolong your render times.
