Come to think of it, I don’t think I know of graphics package that can do this easily, but then again, what do I know?
Actually, it is quite common. Vegas text generator does allow you to pick colour off screen and allow to put blurred outlines on text.
So I guess, it’s an omission which may be fixed. I just use static titles for which I have been using a 3rd party titler by Cayman Graphics for about 7 years. It has served me well.

I agree on the color picker. There’s a workaround for it but it’s a little convoluted. You can use one of the Vegas effects that DOES have the color picker, get the RGB values, and then plug those in but it’s a pain.

I had not noticed that the outline did not include a blur. I guess I’m more used to using a “drop shadow” for that type of thing and it DOES have a blur.

I did try using colour picker and transferring the values. Bit of a pain. As I am used to Power CG Plus, I am sticking to that for my current projects. Unfortunately, Power CG Plus does tend to freeze in V8, so I use V6. It’s not a big deal.

I use outline+blur in wedding titles. I suppose that’s how do I it. For other work, I use drop shadow. I put up a comparision https://www.crestvideo.co.uk/v8/v8_titler_test.png
Incidently, my son came over and had a look at the titler. He got to grips with it in 5 minutes and thought Pro Titler was powerful.
    Hope for me yet.

With a combination of drop shadow and glow from within ProType Titler, I came pretty close to your Cayman Graphics version.

    Looking forward to 8.0a

That’s very encouraging Kim. I have, also, had another attempt at creating simple text in V8 titler. I felt there was too much power in one basket. I was creating a series of simple captions, trying to keep the attributes, size and position the same.
There must be a way to lock these things so that all captions have same attributes.

As you say, I, also, await V8.0a
