Just got Vegas Pro 20 on my new Lenovo laptop and it keeps freezing/crashing while editing and rendering. I’ve been trying to render an hour long project and it’s just hit and miss – most recently it’s been freezing at one particular spot in the edit. I’ve tried many suggestions re: adjusting settings in preferences that I’ve heard about online. I’ve tried changing the render settings but that hasn’t worked unless I render at less then 60 fps. Thanks for any help with this.

Could it be that your laptop is overheating? Have you checked your temps?

Freezing/crashing could also be caused by some odd file formats/effects. Is there anything different in that particular spot?

As a last resort you could also try to render your project in smaller segments and then combine them in another render. Try to isolate the problematic bits, maybe copy them over to a separate project.

I have experienced that sometimes in Sony Vegas Pro 13 myself. Sometimes its not even because of overheating but the .dll file on your system32 computer that can be triggering the problem. If you get a pop-up on Sony vegas saying that it crash and to check the error message within, pay attention to the file that’s causing it and where it is located in the directory. When I located it on mines, I simply authorized myself admin permission to delete that file and then tried rendering again. It no longer crashes for me. Sometimes even one specific file you use in the video project could be causing the crash too. If you want, if its still happens to you, you can send me a screenshot of the error message so I can give you a better outlook on your situation. Best of luck! Hope it helps!
