Vegas Pro 15 render error
Hi all, i have googled for the past 2 days and cannot find an answer to this one so fingers crossed on here.
I have Sony Vegas Pro 15 and it works well on my 2 old laptops (which are as slow as a week in jail) and i now have a more powerful one with all my new drone shots so wanted to start editing from it.
When i go to render, its comes up with the attached message.
An error occurred while creating the media file train.wmv
Access is denied. Make sure the file is not read only or in use by another personIf i then copy the file to a flash, take it on to both other laptops and do the same process it works fine. I have checked all the permissions for the folders and they are all on full access (except special permissions which i dont think matters)

Ian, what operating system are you running on your laptops? Windows 7 on the old ones and Windows 10 on the new one would be my guess.
Can you render using the Magix AVC/AAC MP4 format template?
Out of curiosity, why are you rendering to WMV

They are all on Windows 10. My son told me wmv was the best option but i have just tried Magix AVC/AAC MP4 and its still giving me an error message though it now says “the reason for the error could not be determined” ☹

Ian, I think your problem is exactly described in the original error. I think you have a permissions error and cannot write the rendered file to the folder you want to store it in. I would check first where are you storing the rendered file? Then do you have permission to write to that folder? I’m not familiar with Windows 10, so hopefully someone else will jump in, or a search on How-To’s for the steps to check for permissions. Running Vegas Pro as Administrator may allow it to write the rendered file, right click on the Vegas Pro desktop icon and select ‘Run as Administrator’.
No disrespect to your son, I think you will find Magix AVC/AAC MP4 a better render than the WMV. More options, faster render speed (maybe), cleaner results, better quality. Just something to consider in the future.

Yea, that usually doesn’t solve a permissions problem in Windows 10, but thought I would throw it out there. By the way, I get the same error with the Magix AVC render, if I don’t have write access permissions to a folder, as you did. It still all points to a permission error within Windows 10 as far as I can see. Maybe a search or two about write errors in Windows 10 will hlp you step through it. Good Luck, hope I haven’t sent you down the wrong rabbit hole.

I have the same problem Not the “Access denied” issue but the “Reason Unknown” issue.
and wondering if you ever found a solution?I can render MPEGs, AVI etc so I don’t think it’s a permissions issue.
