I drag and drop a fraps video into Vegas Pro 12. On the video file i can move the position indicator forward and back. I can play the video. I render as… It creates a file. Then on the video file in vegas i cannot move the position indicator, i cannot play the video. Vegas provides this message: Vegas Pro 12.0 “An error occurred while starting playback. The request is not enabled for this device.” an extensive search yielded 1 unresolved result to this question. I tried running vegas as admin, no change. If i save and restart vegas i can then move and play, until i render as. after which it repeats this lock up. what can i do to stop this hindrance?

I’ve seen this error related to audio. What are the audio settings of your project and what are your render audio settings? If the sample rate and bit rate don’t match, the problem could be that your audio card cannot switch back to the project sample rate after rendering at a different sample rate. This would cause the project not to play because it cannot play the audio.
