    I just changed from a GeForce 9800GT to a more powerful GeForce GTX 680 Graphics card. I thought I was going to be happy. This is in a Dell XPS 730 – i7 – 965 @ 3.2 Ghz – 64 bit

Opened up a project I had already finished last week, now its totally choppy when I run effects, reverse clips.. Runs fine otherwise on other MTS clips..
These are already completed projects, so I know there was nothing wrong with them when they were created/rendered.

    Please help!

Am I missing some settings that need to be changed with the new 2 gig card? Either on the system or in Vegas?

I would like to add, I changed over to HDMI as this card is HD.
So, my resolution settings are now 1080p, 1360 x 768
I get the feeling if I put my old card in there and go back to the old settings it would be back to normal.. My card was going out, so the chnage was needed..

are you saying that the preview window was smooth with your old card and now it is choppy with the new card?

If that is the case, check that your Power Supply is rated higher than the requirement. OEM PC generally use okay PSUs but they are on the smaller side.

Also remove all GPU drivers, restart, download and install new drivers…

the use of a driver cleaner might be needed.

as for working with HD content….. the i7 9XX series might be fast enough to preview the content with no effects, but add effects and your FPS is going to drop.

I have started to use the “Build Dynamic RAM preview” more and more and it works great, makes super smooth video even with tons of effects and overlays…

My rig in my signature cannot render real time 1080p video with overlays, effects and transitions….

Add lots of RAM and use it with the dynamic ram preview function

Obviously that series card isnt fully compatible with Vegas
as was your old card it seems. And probably nothing you do with
this new card is gonna let things run smoothly.
This whole GPU processing with the correct series video card
is quite a complex issue most times. I would have bought back
    a new GeForce xxxxGT card.

    Hi there,
I was dealing with the same issues that you are having. I’ve made a video tutorial on how to get rid of the artifacts in renders and to stop the crashes during the rendering process.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZXij4epfTc&feature=c4-overview&playnext=1&list=TLR8LWMv_K46g

The links to the 2 forums are in the description of the link posted above.

In short you have to make 2 adjustments to the bit rate. From 8bit to 32bit floating video.

Second you have to change the ‘GPU acceleration of video processing’ is OFF.
I hope this helps you get back to normal!

    Thanks,

Thank you for the suggestions, etc..

Hardware, software, its enough to make your head spin!
The folks at Nvidia suggested a specific driver and that may have made a difference. But, I cant be sure.. I should have sampled more than one project, but I only opened one of my last projects (below)when I tested the new card…..

This whole delimea may have been a very odd coincidence!
    When I open this project..
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TMpfph2STM
The beginning orbs of light will not run in Vegas!
Choppy, choppy.. (this is the first thing I did when I got the new card).. I assumed it was inherent problem with the new configuration..

I have now come to the conclusion that this one file is corrupted.
I can start a new project and add what ever I text over animations it works perfectly.. Plus, all other projects run fine..

If I would have took the time to open other projects I could have saved lots of time and energy.. But, really who would of thought!

Build Dynamic RAM preview is a very good suggestion.
I maxed out the RAM and the card is 2 gig..
    Cleaned out the drivers..

    Runs well now..
