Hi, I’ve been trying to edit a video in Vegas Pro 13 but it keeps closing every time I watch the video from the timeline. It doesn’t freeze or give me any message, all it does it close the program and kill the process.

I’ve also gone back to Vegas Pro 12 in the hope that it was an issue limited to 13 but I am getting the exact same problem.

Everything was working fine a week ago but I have upgraded my GPU since then from a GT 640 to a GTX 660, could this be the problem and if so is there any fix?

    Thanks

Yes, That could be the problem. Not all upgrades necessarily makes things better.
But also Vegas could possibly be having a problem with the format of
that particular video you have on the timeline.

I think the problem is the lack of support for the GTX 660 and other 600 series cards so there isn’t alot I can do about it.

I’ve managed to get things to work for now by turning off GPU acceleration when I’m editing and turning it back on when I’m ready to render, it does make the process a bit longer though with the CPU having to do all the work. I’ve got an I5 4690K and it’s being pushed to 100% usage when playing from the timeline so I’m not too happy about that but I’ll live with it.

ok, So you have to do it sometimes Craig, but after a time things
may improve with driver updates etc.
As strange as this may sound, i specifically do not use any dedicated GPU
Card in my daily hectic editing system… To cut a long story short, It’s
so stress free, without the complications of the GPU mess that exists at times
