I am somewhat puzzeled as to what to make out of the Youtube button.

My grief with it is that I cannot control the quality as to either normal or high(er). It seems behind the scenes go to the MainConcept AVC/MP4 codec with 8Mbps. With those settings I do see a lot of posterization in the final render output (whether via Youtube review, or whether I simply use the same settings to render locally, either with CPU or GPU).

With 720-30p material I tried MainConcept with 10Mbps and Sony AVC with 10Mbps. Both produce acceptable output, Sony AVC’s looks better and is smaller size wise (well, other than the fact that I cannot use this codec on Win7/x64, seems to work only on Win7/x86 for me).

That makes me question why Sony added this button if it’s useless due to the lack of configurability.

I only use the Sony AVC for online output…Better quality and
    small file size.
As for your last statement, i cannot answer that..lol

Still the new rendering output window in Vegas 11 will take
some getting used to for some folks….Only wish there was a
pause option during rendering….and when a render is cancelled
or discontinued for any reason, that up to the point where the
render ended, the video remained intact and usable….

One thing I just found out, maybe work sharing …

I deinstalled all Sony Products, delete all app data, nuked all “Sony” entries in the registry, and then reinstalled Vegas Pro 11 again … well, now my “Sony AVC” codec works with 720p. Looks like part of my problems are solved.

Ok, I was too early to say “all good”. Rendering with “Sony AVC” and uploading to Youtube punts me back with: “The video you uploaded may have audio/video sync issues …” “We did not recognize the audio format for this file …”

Boy, sorry to hear that….Having both 10 and 11 installed you can continue using version 10 for certain tasks…As you know after a few updates Vegas 11 will hit the spot.

I’ve gotten that message before from YouTube, however, the video when processed by them is lovely. Give it a try anyhow

Well, the audio on youtube was missing. And since I did save the project with Vegas Pro 11, I could not go back to 10 …

My only way to go was to use MainConcept with a 14/20 Mbps setting. Since youtube recodes anyway, I don’t think jaking up the filesize would hurt this workflow.
