Vegas plug in for particle effects – light saber?
In the current Star Wars film, the bad guy has a light saber that gives off sparks and other energy effects. Is there a particle plug in for Vegas that can generate this effect for a 2 D light source image?

I would say no off the top of my head. I would look into Blender or some other type of similar app to produce that effect.
Once you realize how much time is spend on individual frames in an effect sequence, you garner great respect for the visuals you see in films.

Yes there is. Vegas Pro 13 Suite comes with HitFilm 3 Pro which has a particle generator. You could also download the FREE Hit Film 3 Express The Force which has Star Wars Light Sabre and Lightening effects. You can buy more effects packs to add more effects as you grow.
Boris Continuum Complete also has a 3D particle generator (BCC Particle Emitter 3D) that plugs right into Vegas Pro. I use this all the time and I’ve produced several tutorials on Boris TV on how to use it. But if Star Wars effects is what you want… look no further than HitFilm. It was designed for this sort of thing.
