I have been wanted to build a pc to mainly edit videos, audio, and images. I am currently running Sony Vegas 9 Pro 64bit (I’ve a fan of Vegas since 3.0) on an Intel Quad Core, eight gigs of ram, and Raid O set-up. Last year I bought a Panasonic HMC-150 and love the results. However, Vegas really struggles to playback the video at a decent frame rate. Furthermore, I am highly disappointed at the rendering times.

My question is the following: Can Vegas 9 run on a Xeon platform, and efficiently? I am thinking about building a server with two Xeon quad core processors (W3520 Bloomfield). Will Vegas be able to use all the cores in parallel to improve frame rates and rendering time?
    Thanks
