Vegas now runs jerky
Hi All:
I bought Vegas Pro last December to work on a project shot from my Canon HD but the MTS files choked it so I bought a new laptop as well (Core 2/Vista64) and it worked fine. I finished the project in January and there were no problems as far as the new laptop went. I also had the media on an external drive. I have the fundamentals covered fine.
Since then I’ve installed various programs and when I tried to edit video, the video now runs is jerky (changing about once every 3 seconds). I’ve tried different settings and cleared out background services selectively. I also booted up in safe mode and it worked fine except for the lo res video driver loading of course 640×800) – yikes!
I’m not sure what I should do. My C drive still has about 20 to 30% open and i use media from an external drive. I’ve defragged – all that stuff. The media files from the project that worked are as jerky as the new media.
I’m just wondering how to troubleshoot this. I’ve put off troubleshooting this as I haven’t had the time but there are a number of video projects I NEED to jump on now for my own marketing! I also have clients that are wanting video soon – the video project I worked on has been getting some accolades up here in the NorthWest.
Would a reinstall of Vegas do anything? I’m just thinking there is some background service or other app running that is messing it up. Is there a program out there that allows you to turn them off selectively in real time or just see which app or service might be the culprit? I didn’t install any games or anything other than the standard MS OFFICE apps, browsers, media and web programs. Any other ideas? 🙂
THX for the advice! mj
