Vegas not responding
Posted by Willie Bobo on February 27, 2020 at 9:37 pmDoing some simple cuts on a single track and get the vegas not responding error when trying to playback.
When initially dragging the clips to the timeline VP 17 asked if I’d like to match to the clips and I selected yes.
This is 1080p 60fps and this is what the properties looks like…any suggestion on fixing the issue?Vegas Pro 17

So you are editing hard compres 1080p 60fps mp4 ! It’s like editing 3840×2160 30fps mp4 – and for that you need a 8-core cpu !
Try editing 1080p 30fps mp4 footage – if that is okay it will be the limit for you computer !

February 28, 2020 at 2:29 pmIt’s good to know the answer to my problem even if I don’t like the answer.
So my Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770S CPU @ 3.10GHz, 3101 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s) won’t handle 1080p fps or 4K well even if my prefs are set for the GPU (ASUS Phoenix GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER OC Graphics Card) to handle them correct?
Can I ask here what CPU and motherboard I should buy here or do I need to go to another forum? Thanks very much for your expert advice,

Before you jump to a new computer – you need to know
that there are other options ! It’s the CPU that packs
and unpacks the hard mp4 format! You can make proxy
files in Vegas Pro or transcode your recordings into
intermediate codecs ! Then your recording will fill
more – but the editing will be like cut in soft butter!
Here is a short video – which I have made – showing
how to use batch render script in Vegas Pro!mts to cineform avi vegas batch render script

I don’t know where you got your .mts recordings from – but .mts is media transport stream – and uf the footage comes from a videocamera you normalt need to copy the root data struktur from the memorycard !
Convert you footage to Sony mxf 1920×1080 50mbps 422 – and try again !

March 12, 2020 at 9:09 pmThank you for looking at the information, Ole. I have been happily using Sony Vegas Pro for 10 years and have graduated through versions 8 to 17. For five years I have been using the .mts files from a Canon G10 and G40 without problems. I have tried using the conversions using Prism software and the results are the same: vegas is not responding. Vegas 17 build 421 will not handle the files. I had hoped to stay with AVCHD into retirement as clients are happy with 1920×1080, and I do not need further resolution.

March 21, 2020 at 1:42 amThanks again Ole, the proxy files make it much more bearable!
Unfortunately it looks like I will need to upgrade my CPU as even after making a proxy file of a 4K clip (which didn’t stutter by itself) has issues when just adding text.
Can you or anyone else recommend an 8 core replacement for the one I listed above?
Thanks very much,
