I’m using Vegas 6.0 and have been using Raylight for over a year to edit .mxf files. I’ve recently been asked to edit a TV pilot which was shot on several HVXs and dumped to a Mac harddrive. I successfully copied the files to my pc harddrive and now find that I can only open a few of the p2 files in Vegas. This baffles me. The text document files is present for some of the chips, but this seems to not really matter. Some of the p2 chips missing the text document will still open. Some that have the text document will not open. Does anyone have any info on why this is the case?

I have a copy of Vegas 9 but do not yet own Raylight Ultra. Would updating to Raylight Ultra and using Vegas 9 make any difference?

    Thanks.

I have been demonstrating Raylight Ultra in Vegas, the latest version is 1.2 and so far it has had no problems with any of the P2 formats including Panasonic’s AVC-Intra codec. You must be running Vegas 9.0 though if you need to work with the AVC-Intra files. I honestly think a lot of your problems might be solved if you did go to Vegas 9.0c and Ultra. Can’t gaurantee that but worth trying out the Ultra demo to see if it does sort your problems. Ultra is a big step forward. Demo available at

    Hi Chris,

I’ve been using Raylight for HD footage (720p or 1080i) shot on my HPX172 with Vegas 8 and it works fine.

Recently I’ve upgraded to Vegas 10 and I can’t seem to playback DV format (576i)footage from the same camera. It works perfectly fine with Vegas 8 for some reason. But it just doesnt playback the footage on Vegas 10. Do you know what I can do about this?

    Shireen,

You need to upgrade to Raylight Ultra to work with mxf files in Vegas Pro 10.

You can download the demo of Raylight Ultra here.
