need some help bad and quick!
I can edit in Vegas with the best of ’em, but when it comes to specific rendering tecniques I’m still a little infant trying to walk.

I just sold a commercial to Coors (Miller) and they asked for my final spot to be rendered to these specification:

Can anybody out there hold my hand and walk me through this?

    Video
    MPEG 2 Program stream MP/ML
Long GOP 15 frames w/3 frames (example: BBIBBPBBPBBPBBP…)
    VBR @ 12 Mbps
    Interlaced video only
Frame rate must be 29.97fps or 30fps
Non Film (i.e. do not use 3:2 pull-down)
    Picture size 720×480
Please note: We are not able to accept 23.98psf

    Audio
    MPEG Layer 2 @ 192Kbps
    48Khz Sampling

    Multiplexing type
    MPEG-2

    Thanks!
    Jack

Jack, that looks like the specs for DVD Architect NTSC video stream (a standard Vegas render setting).

When you select that one, look at the video tab of the MainConcept MPEG-2 that comes up for that choice.

Then click Audio and you can change the audio settings to match the spec.

If you look at the advanced video tab you can see the various frames included by default.

The Vegas online help is very extensive and should help you confirm all this.

Thanks!! It’s the VBR @ 12 mbps that confuses me
It has Maxium, Adverage and minimum settings on the tab, and I’m not really sure what all those numbers mean. not sure i even want to know.. haha… but I need to somehow give them VBR @ 12

    any ideas?

    thanks again!

“Variable Bit Rate” – on the Video tab, to get 12 MBPS you will have to change the Output Type to ATSC and then tweak the Variable Bit Rate at the bottom to 12,000,000 (you can enter any values there). However, I have a gut feeling the default values that appear, which are larger, would suffice. Perhaps they are specifying “minimum specs”?

Might be worth a Google search of ATSC to read more about this standard. One such search revealed this article:

    dude…. you are the best.

thanks a million!! I’ll render and send it away
all this “Long GOP 15 frames w/3 frames” talk is making me nuts

I just hope it’s what they need

    thanks again
