  • Vegas’ MP4 h264 files for playback on Droid OS not working

My boss got a Droid tablet and wanted to be able to show clients our 720p h264 mp4 files on it. The mp4’s we’ve created out of Adobe Premiere work just fine, but I found all the ones that I had created in Vegas 10 and 11 play the audio but the video is just a garbled green/pink mess in every player I’ve tried on the tablet. So I put some on my droid cell phone and had the exact same issue. It played 720p from premiere and other sources but not the ones Vegas produces. So I guess my question is what is Vegas doing differently and how can I fix it? The Vegas mp4’s have always played fine on pc’s, Playstation 3, and uploading to YouTube. This is using the Sony AVC/MVC setting, AVC video format, 1280×720, baseline, CAVLC, 7mbps, mp4 file format. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Okay I’ll post my fix to this in case anyone else can use it. There’s no way to “fix” the existing Sony AVC format mp4’s, but I got the latest built 511 (why don’t they do a,b,c like they used to?) and used the MainConcept AVC codec instead, with the Internet 720p preset and lowered the bitrate to 7mbps. Plays on my phone perfectly!

I’m not sure what Sony does to the Sony AVC to make it different but I guess I’ll just stick with MainConcept from now on.
