Vegas looking at wrong drive after backup
Posted by Jim Cates on May 8, 2012 at 2:57 pmAfter saving a project and associated MXF files to an external drive, I am trying to return to the project on the editing workstation, but Vegas keeps looking at the external drive for the video files. I can obviously have it search each file, but that is quite time consuming…
I must be overlooking a simple way to tell Vegas to stop looking at the K drive….Any ideas ?Steve Rhoden replied 14 years ago 4 Members · 7 Replies -

May 8, 2012 at 4:05 pmIt’s going to do that because that’s the file pathway. You’ll have to redirect it for all the files, yes, but that should solve it.

May 8, 2012 at 6:19 pmWhen you first load the veg file, it should give you a message that went something like “can’t find filename*.*. What would you like me to do?”.
It then gives you several options, one of which is “I’ll tell you were to look”.
Choose this one, browse to the new location and click on it.
If more files are in this same location, it will load those automatically, otherwise you’ll have to load them one at a time.Once this is done, remember to save it under a new name.

May 8, 2012 at 7:55 pmIve tried this option…..I get “specify a new location or replacement file”….when I go beyond this point, even down to the actual folder where the files are located, it continues to ask for a specific file name in the top dialog box….without entering something in this box, nothing more will happen…..I cant simply redirect to the overall p2 folders where I store my rough footage, or the C drive instead of the K (the external drive I backed up on)….Im stumped…

set to automatic, to make this process easier, if in this
