  • Vegas freezes when I try to render

I just got a new computer and rendered a video with it perfectly. I then turned on the GPU acceleration. It froze on initializing that for a while but eventually started.

The display window and all clips in the timeline were now blank instead of showing a preview.

I turned GPU acceleration off, but since then when I go to render a video the display window turns black and Vegas will “render” infinitely without doing anything, and if I try to cancel the render it freezes and has to be shut down through the control panel.

    Any ideas?

Try a reset of Vegas first. Hold Ctrl + Shift while starting Vegas. That will reset all preferences and delete all cached data prior to loading the program. If that doesn’t work, then reinstall it.

As Mike said, Resetting Vegas should do the trick.
I assume this is the latest version of Vegas 12?

I tried this and reset to defaults. Vegas works flawlessly until I try to render then the display screen goes black and the time to render continually rises with no frames being rendered.
