You could probably do this with a couple of tracks of each guy and a third track with the sparkle effect. Play with some of the Brightness/Contrast filter until you get a washed out silhouette, then add a filter to colorize it. Fade that in then cross fade it to the normal version of the guy. Start with both identical clips one on top of each other, color one on top, then split (“S” key) the top track where you want the normal one to come in so they stay in sync. Your spakle effect goes on top… you’re on your own on that..it looks like a particle effect. try some of the free smoke samples and colorize them to match – video co-pilot might have a couple free ones or you could make your own. I don’t think vegas has a media generator that would get you there.

Vegas does not have a particle generator. That’s why I suggested a stock media clip (like smoke) that you could colorize or modify with filters to match the look you’re after.

You might also try playing with lens flares or rays filters.

Here’s a quick and dirty experiment using the approach I mentioned above where I duplicate the keyed talent track and applied brightness/contrast filter with glow and a flare to simulate an effect similar to, but not nearly as nice, as the one you’re after. But it may give you some ideas:

i’m still on 32bit James, is the veg 64bit?

Yes, it is 64bit. I didn’t know the veg files were different. It’s also V11 which may be the problem. What version of Vegas are you running?
Not sure if this image helps (click to enlarge). There’s a blue and a white glow. The lens flare is added as a project FX.
