Vegas Does Not Support Old .veg Files Anymore??
Posted by Ken Bennett on June 30, 2015 at 12:49 amI’m trying to load up some old Vegas Pro 10 and 11 projects into Vegas 12 or 13. It says “Unsupported Format”. You mean to tell me Sony Vegas no longer supports old .veg files?
What’s the thinking behind that?

June 30, 2015 at 1:33 amI’ve had issues with opening a .veg with an older version of Vegas but not newer ones. can you upload the .veg file? I don’t need the media to find out what versions I can open the file with.

June 30, 2015 at 2:21 amNothing like that, Vegas Pro has always and will always open up older
Vegas Pro project files. Just make sure all the source files that makes
up these old projects are accessible on your drive for Vegas to properly
link and open them…Steve Rhoden (Cow Leader)

June 30, 2015 at 2:42 amSteve, I don’t believe Vegas is getting that far in his case. The .veg file should still open without an “unsupported” error. Only after it opens does it look for the associated files and re linking them. I believe the .veg files he’s trying to open are corrupt. That’s why I’d like to have just one of the .veg files he can’t open with 12 or 13.

July 1, 2015 at 4:07 amIf these .veg files from V11 are corrupt then all the files I’ve tried to open are corrupt. I can’t believe or don’t want to believe that all of my old V8, V9, V10 and V11 veg files are corrupt.

July 1, 2015 at 5:02 pmVegas will always open older veg files. As Steve and Danny have said, post one of the veg files for us to examine.

July 1, 2015 at 6:30 pmThere’s definitely something wrong with the file. I couldn’t open it in Vegas 11 or 13.

July 1, 2015 at 6:44 pmI just tried to open it with 12 and got the same unsupported format. Sorry bud. With Steve and I, that’s 11, 12 and 13. If you have any that you have not tried to open with a new version? Before you try to open them all, wait and upload one you haven’t tried. Just in case it’s the “opening them with the newer ver.” is what’s corrupting them.
