Vegas Crash
Hello all,
So unfortunately I ended up losing quite a bit of info needed to create a project in PAL vs. NTSC. This is kinda’ beside the point. Here is the issue.
I have pulled the VOB, IFO etc. files from the DVD I created in NTSC format so that I may re-render the video in .MPG format in VEGAS 8. Then I can recreate the DVD in Architect. I am able to open up the project in Vegas and place the VOB chapters on the time line, but when I render the video preview displays “No need to recompress” or something to that effect. I’m assuming this is because the VOB is already in an .MPG format from when it was created, which should make the render time nice and fast. But at exactly 24%, 4 times in a row, the app crash window pops up and I have to close the program. Help me please. Here are my specs too.
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU @ 2.66GHz
4 GB RAM
32-bit OSAny advice would be great. Thanks.

Does anyone think uninstalling and re-installing the program will help?

Actually instead of uninstall and reinstall you can just
initiate the “maintenance wizard” by going to this folder:
C:/Program Files/Sony Setup/Vegas Pro 8.0 and select
vegas80_enu and follow the instruction…Then try re-importing your DVD to the timeline.

Let Vegas import your DVD. Put the DVD into your computer’s DVD player/recorder, then go:
File->Import->DVD camcorder Disk
This function will import any DVD as long as it is not copyrighted. The result is aditable and will not need recompress.

Thanks for the advice. I am getting an error
An error occurred when opening one or more files.
The file is an unsupported format.Any ideas?

Were you successful importing directly from the DVD? I am not sure from your response. Sometimes there are other files with the main one and then you get that error message. Hopefully the file you need is also there. JK

Thanks for all your help John.
I updated the software to Sony Vegas 8 Pro c, from 8 Pro b and this helped. Then I started reading about 8.1 and the Vista 64 bit OS, and decided to do a clean install of the new OS. Now I am in a whole new world of issues. 1 step forward 2 steps back.
Vegas is running great however. And I was able to import directly from the DVD, so thanks again.
