solution is as simple as renaming it back to mpg.. but it is still a pain!

July 3, 2007 at 5:20 pmMy guess is that you’ve accidentally used the
DVD NTSC video stream template instead of the
DVD Architect NTSC video stream template.Selecting the former will give you an M2V file instead of the MPEG-2 file you get with the latter.

July 5, 2007 at 9:08 amMike, basically i use the DVD Architect settings and modify the bit rates as required. This one was 2.15 with about 50 chapters.
The render also did not include the chapters…hmmmm
and it was also 3.99 gigs so it says.. DVD Arch. said it was well over 4.7 so I went back and bumped the bit rates on the lower end slightly… the file rendered with adequate room, it did not change the file name and the project markers were there…
So…. evidently, maybe the software was doing this..
But thanks for your advise
about the MPEG DVD. thats what I thought.. but wanted to see is anyone had any specifics… thanks again.. it was appreciated.
Thanks,

That happens to me sometimes too. I’m sure there’s a reason but I’ve never been able to figure out why 🙂
When that happens, I can usually get the markers by clicking the Load Markers icon in DVDA. If that still doesn’t work, then it’s time to add them manually 🙁…and it was also 3.99 gigs so it says.. DVD Arch. said it was well over 4.7″
As long as you know that what you’re feeding DVDA is under the limit, ignore any warnings that the file is too large.
DVDA has a long history of incorrectly reporting file sizes. -

July 5, 2007 at 6:44 pmPer the size issue. DVDA is showing the current “actual” size. Unfortunately, there is aspects likes your menu(s) that have not been compressed/rendered yet. Note before you do anything to a new project in DVDA it shows you already have something like 500MB which if you rendered it would only be a couple MBs. In Vegas, I’ve always rendered just a little under the calculated average (5-10%) so I have a little DVD real estate to play with. Plus, I’ve also found it’s a good idea to leave some fingerprint room on the outside of the disc.

Sorry, what I meant to say was “edge” of the disc instead of “outside.”
