Vegas capturing Avi file size
I have a huge problem!
I want to capture a VHS using vegas, I run out of space because in 30 min of footage the AVI file went up to 32 GB !.
Does anyone can tell me what is the best option to capture a VHS?
I found that some people don’t like to use Vegas but LAGARITH the PROCODER.
Please help me in solve and possible in decide what is the best capturing software and method without sacrificing resolution.Thanks.

2GB RAM

Sounds like you’ve managed to go UNCOMPRESSED. Instead, capture as DV-AVI through a convertor (like a miniDV camera, something like the ADVC series from Canopus, etc…). That will give you about 13Gig/hour.

So, what you’re saying, don’t use Vegas for capturing?
I also tried Ulead 7, but it’s droping frames so looks choppy.
How about Adobe Premiere capturing tool, I couldn’t find the connection for a VCR input.
Canopus is this another software? that I need?
And yes I think am using uncompressed AVI file, if I use compressed it doesn’t look good.
Any thougths about Lagarith video codec?

DO use Vegas for capturing. Make sure you’re capturing DV-AVI (which you are not). It sounds like you’re trying to capture from a video card instead of via firewire. Capture via firewire into DV-AVI instead. You might have to get a convertor, as I mentioned in the first post, if you don’t have one though.
