  • Vegas and DVD architect hang when selecting a mpg file

When selecting a MPG file from any dialog box in either Vegas 7.0c or DVD Architect 4.0a, either application freezes consistently. I’ve tried turning off preview and that doesn’t seem to help.

    Any ideas?

Are they MPEG2? Have you let it sit for a while and see if it pulls out? Mine “hangs” when I select a VOB (MPEG2 packaged for DVD) file, as well. It just takes a little while to pull up the attributes of the mpeg stream, and read through the file to make sure it’s readable. It think it just mostly has to do with the nature of MPEG2. But I’ll let somebody more knowledgable in all the technical aspects explain it better. Assuming I’m right.

It’s any MPEG2. The one in question is very short, a couple of minutes in length. It was generated via Photodex’s PhotoShow Gold slideshow creator.

I’ve used files generated from this app before without any problems. I’m wondering if I need to reinstall an mpeg codec or something.

Reinstall is good. It sounds like some installation has messed it up.
