  Vegas and 7.1 audio

  I have a question regarding both Movie Studio and Pro version of the current Vegas.
  I have the Movie Studio and downloaded the trial of Pro version to see if it is different from Movie Studio, but both of them had the same settings.

  If I have video that has 7.1 audio, which is 8-channel, can I output it back to 7.1 after editing?
  If I go to project properties there are options for stereo and 5.1 but no 7.1.
  However, if I start to render the video, I can change the render settings to support up to 32-channels of audio.

  So which one is the ‘correct’? Doesn’t the project properties need to match with the final outcome of the video instead of having different settings?
