  • Vegas 9.d freezes when opening files

    Greetings,

I was quite excited about the update when it came out the other day.9.c was locking up and giving me the “low memory” issue when trying to render the 43min. HD indie film I have been working on for the past 11 months. It really made me regret updating from 8.c. I have only been working with version 9.c since Christmas. So…flash forward to the update, I install. Then try to open my timeline. It opens and I try the render. It locks up and gives me the “low memory” error still, so I reboot and decide to attempt the Net render work around that some have tried. Now, Vegas won’t even open my file. It locks up at 22% and does nothing more. I use ENDITALL to shut everything down before I run Vegas, and still nothing. Ideas anyone? I know that I should have saved a 8.c version of the file before upgrading.

    Background on the file-
It’s thirty nested veg. files with some titles on top, along with several music/scoring tracks, and several vocal/Sound FX tracks.

    Backgound on the computer-
    Core Duo 2.66
    2 gigs of ram
    250gig Main OS Drive (7200rpm)
    1 TB work drive (7200rpm)
    250gig resource drive -(music) (7200rpm)
80gig- Final render to drive (10,000rpm)

I know she is not the fast ship in the galaxy, but MOTHER has been good to me.

    Again, anyone?? Much Thanks,

Did you try a system restore to get back to 9c?

At present, that is what I just did. File opened up. Before that, I tried the clean install. I had 8.0c still installed along side 9.0d, so I uninstalled both. And reinstalled 9.0d. Same issue wouldn’t open, and then froze. I didn’t do a registry clean after the uninstall as some suggested on the Sony forums. I’m not exactly sure how to do that. So it’s back to 9.0c at the moment.

    Any thoughts?

Also to note, files are HDV 60i converted to cineform 24p.

I’ve seen more than one system in the past couple of weeks freezing up due to Cineform and Vegas 9d…

    I used the following solution:

    https://www.custcenter.com/cgi-bin/sonypictures.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=4558

It actually works, but I am not sure if it is a good “final” solution. After all, the aviplug.dll file is an old one. Any idea if this is safe or whether I can expect problems during further processing (i.e. after rendering,…)?
