Vegas 9.0e 64-bit – .mt2 problems
I’m using Vegas 9.0e 64-bit. I have mt2 files which I need to pull on to the timeline in Vegas and edit. Some of them I have recorded myself on an HVR-7ZU (which is new) and some were sent to me by a 3rd party videographer. When I drop them on the timeline, they have no audio.. the audio track is a flat line. And when I try to play the time line, Vegas crashes. If I mute the audio track, it will play without crashing, but there’s no audio, so what good is that?
The 3rd party videographer also sent me mpeg files, created from the m2t files… they are the same.. no audio, and they cause Vegas to crash when I play them.
Since I didn’t have any m2t files to work with until just this week, I had never tried them with an earlier version. So I thought maybe if I rolled back that it would take care of it. I rolled back to 9.0c, but had the same problem.
Is anyone else having this problem with .m2t files? If not, and it’s not a problem with Vegas, does anyone have an idea what my problem may be? (My computer is an HP Z800, with 8GB RAM, dual Nvidia Quatro FX1800 video cards, WinXP 64-bit, SP2…. with Sound Forge, DVD and CD Architect, Cinescore and most of Adobe CS3 apps also installed on it.)

Ok..had a DOH! moment today. My problem was that I was running Vegas Pro 9.0 64-bit on a Windows XP 64-bit system. Went back and double-checked the Vegas system requirements and saw that the 64-bit version is not supported on Windows XP 64-bit. Only the 32-bit version is supported on WinXP 64-bit.
So I uninstalled the 64-bit version, installed the 32-bit version and my problems disappeared.

All these posts are concerning me, I’m shooting a feature film and have planned to edit on Vegas, I’m now wondering if CS5 might be the go. Any suggestions?

As long as you’re running Vista 64-bit or Windows 7, you should be fine (though I am far from an expert!). As far as I can find, only 2 of us reported this issue with .m2t files and we both were running Vegas Pro 9 64-bit, on WinXP 64-bit… which Sony doesn’t support.

Well… that’s a bit ironic. Vegas 64-bit doesn’t work with XP 64-bit….
The solution of switching to Vegas 32-bit did the trick; helped out quite a few other little problems I was having with Vegas 9.0e as well.
Anyone have any happy tricks to get Vegas to work in Linux (ie Wine)? Our studio does everything on Linux, but still banking on Vegas to pull our video editing. 🙁Joel Urbina
