  Vegas 9 running slow

  I just installed Vegas 9 (yeah, I know, I’m two levels behind now) on a Windows 7 machine, and Vegas is running VERY slowly. It’s unable to play the picture in the preview window with any kind of decent resolution. Even in fuzzy draft mode it can’t play it in sync (and yes, the picture and sound are synchronized on the timeline).

  Rendering a 1 1/2 program took over a day.

  Details:

  Vegas 9.0e 64bit (update downloaded last month)
  Windows 7 64bit O/S
  AMD 9600 Quad core 2.30HZ
  8GB RAM (2000mb assigned to preview cache – a mistake, maybe?)
  NVIDIA Geoforce 8600GT

  I’ve been using Vegas 7 on Windows XP up ’til now, and that combo seemed much better!

  Any ideas?
