Vegas 9 “Error occuring while creating media file,” but Vegas 7 renders with no problems. any ideas?
ok this is an odd one i just encountered
i have both vegas 7 and 9 installed on my computer. reason being i like the multi-camera editing on 7 better.
anyway, for some reason when i try to render any video in vegas 9 i get the message “An error occuried while creating the file: (file name). The reason for the error could not be determined.”
Yet when I go into Vegas 7 and try rendering the exact same thing, it renders fine.
The only thing I can think of, is that I’ve been using 9 to render HD video. I accidentally set the settings to high for the video, forgetting I was saving it to a FAT32 drive which can only hold files 4gb or under. The file created was exactly 3.99 and cut off accordingly (it was appx 22 min of a 25 min movey). After that is when this error in Vegas 9 started happening.
Tried doing the ol’ System Restore, but my stupid-ass didn’t have any restores points (doh!). Thats what i get for forgetting to set ’em to auto.
Any innfo on possible solutions to or causes of this problems please LMK. I desperatly depend on Vegas 9 to render all the HD projects that I do, as 7 can’t read the AVCHD files. Thanks in advance

i had previously only tried creating MPEG files, then i remembered I did a LPCM soundtrack last night, so i went back and found I can render AVC mts files, WAVE, and AC3 files all fine.
MPEG is the only one giving me trouble, and its the most important as i distibute only on DVD

I would convert the FAT32 drive to NTFS. You are probably still bumping into the file size limit. AVC/h.264 files are a lot smaller than MPEG at the same bit-rate which may be why they fit.
