Vegas 8.1 (64bit) Capture JUKE, Sony Z1u, Dell Inspiron 530
Posted by George Wingard on December 15, 2008 at 11:49 pmVegas 8.1 (64bit) Capture JUKE, Sony Z1u, Dell Inspiron 530
Timecode running on right hand side, but on left side ” capturing clip 001.m2t (0 MB, 0 dropped frames). ” not running
Tried specify different capture drives and folders, reconnecting to device, setting different capture preferences then set back to default.
Dell 530 6600… Motherboard latest Bios, 8gb ram, Device manager has updated Chipset drivers for all hardware(no ? marks) , intel g33 Video, Microsoft home basic 64bit, Texas Instruments pci 2 port third party el cheapo firewire capture card.
Interesting Behavior when I go to Options/preferences/Video/ Show source stream numbers on event thumbnails as: None/ frame numbers/ time/ time code. If I change any of those values, capture window status shows as Unloaded and I must manually restart my Sony Z1u… Scratching head? Help Appreciated

Hi George,Thank you for contacting Sony Creative Software. You may need to check and make sure that your camcorder has the latest 64-bit drivers installed on your machine. If you can verify that the camera drivers are 64-bit compliant, then the following knowledge base articles may be of some assistance:
Answer Title: HDV camcorder topics

Answer Title: Capturing from a Sony camcorder or deckIf you still have a follow-up question on this particular incident, please feel free to update it. If you have a completely different question, please create a new incident.

64 bit drivers? since you are SONY and you make both product, could you provide a Link to these? I cannot find reference to these ANYWHERE, including sony site, and pro site, Creative Cow, Internet… I assumed SONY Vegas 8.1 64bit came with 64bit HVR-Z1U capture drivers. Fresh install on fresh vista home basic 64, Vegas is the only installed program.Give Me More Silicon!

December 16, 2008 at 7:48 amSony Creative Software does not make the cameras, nor the Vaio computers or Televisions or the Sony movies or music CD’s. They are all separate companies owned by the same corporate conglomerate.
I think that the customer service person was not clear in the reply. The only driver issue is with your computer and the hardware driver for your Firewire interface. There is no user-installable software or drivers for the camera.

December 20, 2008 at 9:28 amHi for all Peeps looking for help resolving why vegas 6.1 wont capture from a hvr-z1u or a hvr-a1u on a Dell 530 here is my multi thread keyword spam…the answer may lie in the dell Intel G33 G31 chipset,………….Please see my rantish thing after the following…………
I guess I have answered my .net question on 64-bit vista home basic….net 2 and 3 are pre installed but 1.1 net is missing dont think sony Vegas needs anything 1.1 has to offer but programs such a s Quickbooks 7 do. Currently after Installing Vista Home Basic 64-bit, I am having problems capturing in xp(new issue) and still have never been able to capture in vegas 8.1 on 64bit vista…I installed both operating systems on separate drives but have a feeling something is causing problems from the vista install..I am going to try a system restore back to when I know it was working (after I uninstall Premire pro, oops too late it already wants me to re register, crapo its the new 1394 card; oh well at least its not photoshop cs2)

Got the New capture card which I figured was the problem and same thing timecode runs 0 mb captured in capture window…Which really is a bummer but oh well…I am tri booting vista 32 windows xp and vista 64… I will go back to capturing in xp Just a little more convenient the other way……………………To make a long story short those were some of my ramblings with VISTA 64 bit the G33 /G#! chipset and vegas 8.1, The Dell 530 6600 quad core is a very cheap computer…I guess it is not fit to run Vegas 8.1 capture(in my opinion) at the moment…I have personally tried two different TI cards one generic TI the second one ads tech pyro pci 64r2 approved for vista 64…No Luck I think this is a Microsoft Issue or Vegas issue as I was dual booting vista home Prem and xp just fine untill I installed Vista64 and then Vegas64 (8.1) Something in that install, even though it was on a seperate drive did something to the capture ability of the whole computer(xp, vista 32, vista 64) I completely reformatted using xp to quick format the drives and reinstalled vegas64 home basic over a new install of xp(it was the cheapest option…Upgrade) Dunno if any of y’all have a 530 with vegas succesfully running/ capturing with a z1u but would like to hear from you if you do thx. August 17, 2009 at 3:01 pmI have the same problem and don’t understand your solution. Where to you find ntldr, ntdetect, and > boot. ini I can’t figure out where to even start, other than plugging in the camera and hooking it up to my computer

August 19, 2009 at 1:15 amWas the tape in your camera, shot with that camera? if not try a different tape and shoot some footage with it and try again, my problem was that I shot the footage with my gr-hd1 at a wedding and figured since it was in the hdv format that it was crossplatform (could be played in any camera)anyway I put in a tape I shot with my z1u and all was good
