Vegas 8 and 64bit

I just purchased a new 64 Bit computer running Vista.
Upgraded to Vegas Pro 8.1. However, I am unable to preview on an external monitor or print to tape. The program locks up (Not Responding) everytime I try. When running Vegas Pro 8.0c (32 Bit) on the 64 Bit system, I get video signal dropouts when previewing on an external monitor or printing to tape. Very frustrating. These problems did not occur on my old 32 Bit computer which has died.
Any ideas? Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Yup. I can’t get Vegas Pro 8.1 to capture from my Sony Z1U camera on Vista 64 but Vegas Pro 8.0c works just fine. Perhaps there are issues with Vegas Pro 8.1 and some firewire devices. I don’t have an answer other than to use Vegas Pro 8.0c.
