OK so I have pored over all the setup notes and actually have everything set up properly I think!

#1 Source clips are on shared USB drive on PC #1, drive letter O:.
#2 PC #2 maps this drive to O:
#3 Output drive is set for NAS drive, mapped to Y: from both PCs.
#4 All sharing and rights to modify files are set.
#5 PC#1 opens Vegas with the VEG file and initiates the render and is the stitch host.
#6 Vegas network Render Service on PC #1 sees PC #2 as a renderer whose status is “ready”.
#7 Vegas network Render Service on PC #1 sees itself as a renderer whose status is “ready”.

Now when I start a distributed render, I choose distributed rendering, turn off the “final render template” thing, and go.

The problem is, that only PC#1 appears to be doing anything. PC #2 is just sitting there and the log/renderer details do not show anything being sent to PC #2. Renderer #1 status goes to “working”. #2 stays at “ready”.

I am using MPEG-1 NTSC VCD as the output format (intermediate format for rough editing, final output will be MPEG-2 for DVD).

Vegas 7.0c is loaded on PC #1, 7.0d is on PC #2.

The only transitions I have are fades and there is only one video and audio track in this project.

Why isn’t anything being sent to PC #2?

By the way, there are no errors and the final output is created fine. But it would be nice to think I could speed this up somehow!

    Thanks,

    Gary

I’ve sent this same request to Sony for response and nothing is coming back. I’m getting the feeling that networked rendering is some sort of red herring… they make it so hard to set up that you can’t ever figure out that it really doesn’t work. Sounds great in theory though. Sigh!
