I downloaded the trial version of Vegas 7. When it is loading it gets to the “initializing audio engine” and I get the fatal error “vegas70.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”

The program then closes. I have not been able to get it to open at all.

I have un-installed all previous versions of Vegas and media manager and then re-installed version 7. Nothing is working.

Is there a problem with an audio codec I have? Do I need an audio codec? Vegas 6 always worked with no problems.

    Thank you for any help!

Hi – no help I’m afraid but… I think it has something to do with Windows Media Player Codec.

Used to run Vegas 6 with no problems but 7 is becoming a nightmare, I have no Media Player now… it has messed it up completely! Tried re-installing WMP, uninstalling, upgrading with absolutely no effect – it will not run! Even altering the registery files… I’m considering uninstalling 7 and going back to 6.

& for the record Vegas 7 wont render to WMV, probably another bug related to the WMP codec’s.

One – not very happy Vegas 7 customer!

    Hi Hellfire,

I am still unsuccessful at getting it to open. I get the same error every time and have searched the internet for answers to no avail…I can’t be the only one with this problem (or at least I hope not)….

I really wanted to try 7….was looking forward to some updated things in Vegas.

With your problem…..Are you sure the codecs are removed when you uninstall a program such as WMP?

Good luck with your problem…Let me know if you get it to work.

    Thanks!

I think I have solved my problem! I have a program called “Muvee” and I guess there were issues with some of its DLL files. So I deleted all the DLL files for MUVEE and now Vegas 7 trial works….Of course Muvee will no longer work…..Muvee is a program my daughter used to make music videos of her friends.

Thanks…I hope my post can help someone else that may have issues in the future…

I have the same problem with the trial version of Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 8.0. It also happens with Movie Maker, apparently with any video editor software. I can tell that when it’s trying to initialize the audio engine it get stocked and the message comes up: Vegas Movie Studio Platinum has encountered a problem and needs to close We are sorry for the inconvenience. I saw you found the solution, but how can I find which program is interfering with my Vegas’ Software??? Please help…!!!
