    Hi,
I shoot 24F with the canon. I assume Vegas 7 recognizes the 24F from the canon and treats it as 24P correct?
When I right click on the footage in the time line and go to Preferences it does say that the footage is 23,976 so everything is fine, I’d say. But when I look at the Video Preview it says the project is either 30i or 30P. Why would the preview be different than the time line? It seems that a preview is actually something simplified and it shouldn’t add frame.
I guess, I just want to be sure Vegas recognizes and treats the 24F HDV footage out of the canon as 24P.

When you right click on the clip and choose preferences you are seeing the attributes of the clip itself. The preview window is showing you your “project settings” which can be set to many different settings. You would most likely want your project settings to match the attributes of your source clips.

    Hope that helps.

By the way, in my project setting when I set the settings in “project settings” should I choose 23,976 (IVTC FILM) or 24(FILM)?
    Thanks

Since I am not doind HDV yet I will quote from Spots book,
HDV What you need to know.

“Bowse to file/project properties, and choose “match media settings”. This will allow you to browse to a file that should define your project settings, and Vegas will autoset the properties to this format. If your not sure which settings to use, this is the best option.”

    Hope that helps.
