    I am new to Vegas 7, and have encountered two problems I’m unable to resolve. One is that I cannot import/capture HDV footage because the capture menu will not surface. Only if I select DV will a capture menu come up. Secondly, ..I am unable to scrubb audio. I have looked through settings, menus and the ‘less than thorough’ manual, and have not been able to find how to resolve these issues. Can anyone lend a hand..? O’Shea

    [OShea] “One is that I cannot import/capture HDV footage because the capture menu will not surface.”

    HDV should open in the tabbed section on the main Vegas screen – not as a separate program.

    [OShea] “Secondly, ..I am unable to scrubb audio.”

    Are you grabbing the playhead and dragging? Maybe hold down the CTRL key when you do so? You can also use the JKL keys.

    I understand where the capture tab is. The problem is it’s not recognizing the HD device, telling me the “Device Not Available.” Still puzzled over this.

    This almost always boils down to one of two things;
    a-the HDV device is in HDV mode and you’re trying to use DV capture
    b-the HDV device is in DV mode, and you’re trying to use HDV capture.

    Check downconvert modes on the camera, check which capture mode you’re using for Vegas.
