When I try to render from Vegas 6 to .avi (divx/mp3), the mp3 rendering fails. There are two progress bars, one in the center of the screen that goes from 0 to 100%; one at the bottom left of the screen that goes from 0 to 50% and stops. The resulting .avi has no sound.

I could render to this .avi combination with Vegas 5! I’ve tried swapping in various mp3 codecs, with the same results described above for each. WMV renders correctly. “Render as MP3” only (no video) renders correctly. The divx render appears to be ok. But the combined divx/mp3 renders with no sound.

    Any suggestions? Thanks. – Jong

Render the two separate. Use some other program to combine the two.

I didn’t mention that when i render .avi (divx/mp3) using Virtual Dub, that render works.

I could join the aud and vid streams with another app, but that requires another render and loss of quality.

I’d like to get Vegas 6 working in the same way that Vegas 5 did, rendering directly into .avu (divx/mp3).

Forgive me if I miss something,
but if you use virtualdub to join the
    two speparate streams, setting up
“direct stream copy” no quality loss may
    appear.
