i use a sony deck to load footage into vegas with no problem, but when i used my new sony DCR-vx2100 ,Vegas does not recognize it. Is it a driver issue? How can i fix this problem?

Is the camera set to output DV? Or is it set to input? Should just be a matter of plugging it into the computer if it is set to output.

Of course there are other possiblities:

    1) Blown firewire port on the camera
    2) Blown firewire port on the computer
    3) bad firewire cable

You need to eliminate all the possible errors. So… connect back to the deck and verify all works. If that does, then that would seem to eliminate the computer/cable problems.

BTW, if you have a deck, why are you capturing from the camera?

Also, try another capture program. There is a free trial of Scenalyzer.
