Trying to burn a DVD with 1 hour 35 minutes of video rendered in Vegas 4 with settings of 800k, 600k, 200k. The .mpg file size is 4.4gb. When I attempt to burn a single movie (no menus, etc. – just a straight burn) it tells me the file size is 4.9gb. Where are the extra 500 mb’s coming from? What settings should I use to get an hour and a half’s worth of video on a disc?

First of all, 4.4 gig is too large (a 4.7 Gig DVD-R really holds 4.37 Gig total in “computer speak”). Then audio and menus could make a difference as well.

For a bitrate chart, look at Vol 1 #7 of my newsletters.

should easily fit 90 mins on a DVD.

are you using PCM audio or AC3? use latter if not already, since much smaller files.

could drop the max bitrate easily without a noticeable drop in quality.

are you sure the Architect project is using same project settings as the vegas edit? eg PAL & PAL etc
