I think your problem is Parallels. Vegas runs in Bootcamp.

What was your performance experience using Vegas in BootCamp? Mine in Parallels was painfully slow! I have a 2xquad zeons, 8 core, Mac Pro. Final Cut 7 and X run fine. I would love to dual boot if there was enough performance to actually edit in Vegas more then at 1/2 speed.

FYI… I have used Vegas for years. The more comfortable and time spent with Final Cut, it has made me realize just how good Vegas is.

Vegas 9 on my old iMac (in windows XP) was very laggy. I could edit, but I have too many layers of video for the preview window.

I just got the newest Mac and put Vegas 12 in Windows 7. My Canon 5D .mov HD files were playing in preview without lag (and multiple layers of files). I used “Proxy” on a few of them, but not all.

Hi guys, I am currently running a desktop on windows 7 with i7 3.4ghz quad core turbo charging to higher.. Its great with sony vegas, I ran the bench mark and got 72 seconds.

I want to be able to edit when im away from home. first of all, does anyone know the best windows based laptops to edit on with sony vegas?

second option, if I get the latest highest spec mac book pro retina 15 inch with 2.8ghz (turbo to 3.8ghz) quad core, Is there a way I can just have all my work files on a usb3 ssd and seamlessly work from both computers?
I guess boot camp is best? install windows 7 then vegas 12? is it hard to do on the new Mac book pro?
Or is it best just to get a windows based laptop to go with the windows computer..

My experience with BootCamp and Vegas was not that great. Like you, my desktop works great but my Toshiba i7 quad core temp shoots through the roof in just a few minuts of rendering to 100c. To solve the issue, I am thinking of using an external video card. The idea is to tell Vegas to use the video card streaming cores only, leaving the cpu use and heat down to acceptable levels. I HAVE NOT tried this yet and cannot confirm it will work.
