    Hi all.

I’m watching the VU’s on Vegas’s interface and my levels are fine.

When I burned a DVD of my project, I didn’t have to have my TV very loud to hear the audio.

Not that the levels are too high distorted or crushed, but it’s like the volume on the DVD burned are awful loud.

Using Vegas 12 Pro and DVD Architect 5 comsumer version.

    Thanks in advance.

    Check your Dialnorm parameter.

Do not alter the audio in your Vegas project to fix it. There is probably nothing wrong with it. The audio level of the DVD is determined by the DialNorm parameter in the “render as” template. If the DVD volume is low decrease the DialNorm parameter. In the Render As template open the Custom properties. On the Audio Service tab under Dialog normalization the default is -27 dB, change it to -30 dB (I find that -31 dB is sometimes too loud but try it and see). Then on the Preprocessing tab change both the Line mode profile and RF mode profile to None. This will let the true volume of your project through and not apply these profiles to it.

    Thank you, Steve.

I’m unfamiliar with where to change these settings. Where do I go?

    Thanks again.

    Thanks for the graphic description.

For whatever reason, custom template is greyed out when I select Dolby AC3. It isn’t greyed out when I select video renders, just audio.

    Any ideas?

Make sure you are selecting AC3 Pro, not AC3 Studio.
